Main
Street in Locke about 1915. For those who aren't old enough to remember the
bank building, it sat at the northwest corner of Rts 38 and Rt 90. The
1975 fire started after a gasoline tanker lost control coming down the Rt 90
hill and smashed into the bank. (see
back) |

Train wreck, near the Maple Ave. crossing.
No one was injured but 12 cars loaded with coal and lead broke away from the
rest of the north bound freight train and derailed at about 9 PM on April
20, 1917, leaving a mess that took all night and most of the next day to
clean up. |

House Hotel was the origin of a fire on April 27, 1912 that destroyed about
one third of the village. |

Office were both in the same building in the early 1900s. Post Office later
moved to the smaller house to the north (across from "Mead Street"). |
