Year: 1952 Location: 144-136 Main
East side of Main Street opposite Central Street, 1952. From right: Setad Chevrolet,
Small Building, 1st National Bank of Moravia,
Burgess Clothing.
The original Setad building was built by W.D. Cuykendall in
1896 where he operated a dry goods store until about 1929. It suffered
a serious fire shortly after being leased to C.W. Fessenger in April 1930.
Later, F. Lee Hervieux operated a Ford dealership until about 1945
followed by Lawrence Sill who in turn sold the property to John Dates of
Groton. Dates operated the Moravia Chevrolet franchise under the Setad
name (Dates spelled backwards). The site of the building is now the
north entrance to Kinney Drugs. |
