Owasco Valley
Weather Cam

Q. What am I looking at?
A. You are looking northwest from a point just to the southeast of Fillmore Glen State Park.  The village of Moravia is in the center of the picture but is mostly obscured by trees.  The first 5 miles or so of Owasco Lake can be seen just below the horizon.

Q. Why is the picture so fuzzy?
A. For now this is just an prototype so the equipment used is relatively inexpensive and low-quality.  If this page proves useful and popular, the equipment and quality will be upgraded.  It's really not bad if you stand about 6-8 ft. away and squint a little.

Q. Why is the picture all black?
A. The picture (most likely) was taken after dark.

Q. Why is the picture all white?
A. Snow and/or fog happens - especially up in the hills where the camera is located.

Q. The picture isn't being updated.
A. There could be several reasons for this:

  1. You need to refresh your page (hit the F5 button if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer)

  2. It's night - updates are not sent sent after dark since the picture generally stays the same.

  3. The camera may have stopped or website updates aren't working.  Please send an email to the Send Feedback link below.

Q. Are the pictures saved?
A. Yes.  Approximately 60 days worth (beginning Feb 28, 2007).

Q. What's the deal with the weather information on the right?
A. This is provided free by AccuWeather.com® with their permission. AccuWeather.com is responsible for its content.  To get more detailed information on the current forecast, click on "Moravia, NY".

Q. Where can I find other weather cams?
A. See FingerLakes1.com/webcams.php for more local web cams (not affiliated in any way with None Such Folks)
